This new Vincent was here exhibition will be held in Antwerp, Belgium, where Vincent van Gogh stayed for three months in 1885 – 1886.
Friday, 25 June 2021 to Sunday, 26 September 2021
Rossaert
The exhibition takes place in Rossaert, an art gallery and bookstore, and a branch of Gallery Ronny Van de Velde. Every exhibition is different and adapter to the space. In this Vincent was here exhibition, the accent lies on the still lifes: from dark Brabant still lifes in Rembrandtian light to exuberantly colourful still lifes and bouquets from Vincent’s Southern period.
This Vincent was here exhibition is part of the AntwerpPhoto Festival which takes place in the nearby Loodswezen (near the MAS). A walk has been mapped out from the Loodswezen to photo galleries and art spaces in Antwerp.
The book Vincent was here is published by Ronny Van de Velde and is available in Rossaert and in the bookshop of Antwerp Photo.
Rossaert used to be a ‘klakkenwinkel’, a shop selling sailor’s caps and uniforms, located in Antwerp’s Schipperskwartier. The century-old house is situated against St Paul’s Church and has three floors. It has been meticulously restored while retaining the original shop fittings.
